DescriptionEdwin, in his Royal Navy uniform, stands beside his seated fiancee, Emily. They married in 1909 and settled in Sydney. Edwin served on HMS POWERFUL, the flagship of the Australia Station from 1908 to 1911.HistoryHMS POWERFUL was the flag ship of the Royal Navy squadron of the Australia Station from 1905 to 1911. It was the flag ship at the time of the visit of the United States Fleet (The Great White Fleet) in 1908. During WWI it has most of its armament removed and served as a troop transport.
