The initials of the shipping line are carved into the backrest of the chair 'AUSN Co Ld'. Made by Archibald Stewart and Company, Glasgow.HistoryArchibald Stewart and Company were a furniture company based in Glasgow and attached to the thriving shipbuilding trade based there. They advertised "Furniture of taste and distinction" and designed for ships in addition to houses and hotels.
