HistorySS LOONGANA was a Bass Strait passenger ship operated by the Union Steamship Company of New Zealand from 1904 to 1922, then by Tasmanian Steamers Pty Limited from 1922 to 1934. It was the first ship registered in the Southern Hemisphere with steam turbine propulsion.Charles Jewell
