DescriptionLetter signed by the Registrar of Shipping from the Department of Trade and Customs in Melbourne requesting the exact date when the SS FEDERAL was lost in order to close its registry. There is also a reminder of Section 21 of the Merchant Shipping Act on 1894, which states that there is a penalty of £100 when an owner neglects to advice the customs officer of an event of this kind.
