DescriptionArticle begins: The German Oskar Speck, internationally famous collapsible boat sportsman, currently in Dutch-India on his across-the-world trip in his collapsible boat, was faced with an extraordinarily unpleasant adventure in the rainforests of Dutch New Guinea. When he arrived on the island of Lakor near Meatmiarang, the natives believed him to be a head-hunter. He was seized, tied to a tree – and badly maltreated. With his last remaining energy he managed to escape to Saumlaki. His injuries were so severe, that he had to be taken to the Military Hospital at Ambon.
