HistorySS CATHAY and SS CHITRAL were built for the Compagnie Maritime Belge in 1957 and sold to P&O in 1961 operating between the UK and the Far East until 1970. Ownership then passed to the Eastern & Australian Steamship Company, serving between Australia, the Far East and Japan. In 1975 CHITRAL was scrapped and CATHAY sold.
