It is likely that 'Todds Farm' refers to Mountain View Farm that was run by James Edward Todd in Biggenden from 1892.HistoryJames Todd came to Biggenden in 1892 and with his wife Frances, raised ten children and lived in the area for nearly 50 years. OBITUARY. Mr. JAMES TODD.- Maryborough Chronicle, Friday 21 November 1941 BIGGENDEN, November 19. — After an illness extending over a period of nine weeks, the death took place in the Innisfail Hospital on Sunday morning of Mr. James Todd, of Biggenden. The late Mr. Todd, accompanied by his wife, was on a visit to his sons at Innisfail, when he was taken ill, and news of his death came as a great shock to his many friends in the Biggenden district. The deceased was born in Essex, England. He arrived In Maryborough with his parents 67 years ago (1874), making the trip from England on the ST JAMES sailing ship, the trip taking six months. After leaving school, he was employed for some years on Telegraph lines, being stationed at Cape York. Peninsula for a period. Coming to Biggenden 49 years ago (1892), the late Mr. Todd commenced dairying and farming pursuits, and his property, about six miles from Biggenden on the Coalsloun Lakes road, is now being conducted by his son and son-in-law. Since coming to the district, he had always taken a great interest in public affairs and was a director of the old Co-operative Store. The deceased was married 40 years ago to Miss Frances Young, of Maryborough, who survives him. His parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. David Todd, resided at Horton near Childers for several years prior to their death. In addition to his wife, the late Mr. Todd is survived by a family of seven sons and three daughters, namely.: Edward (Garragunda via Innisfail), William (Garragunda ), Arthur (Goondi), Leslie and David (Garragunda), Cyril (Palmnerston, North Queensland), Percy (Biggenden). Mrs A. Sawyer (Bowen), Mrs. H. T. Harvey and Miss Myrtle Todd (Biggenden), also two sisters, Mrs. John Young (Maryborough) and Mrs. J. Croker (Childers), and one brother, Mr. David Todd (Biggenden) and twelve grandchildren. His funeral took place at Innisffail on Monday." SignificanceThis image is a part of the Captain Robert McKilliam collection. Captain McKilliam worked for the Aberdeen White Star Line for 32 years and sailed aboard such famous clipper ships as SALAMIS and THERMOPYLAE. He moved to Sydney in 1913 where he served as Assistant Wharf Master on Darling Island.
