DescriptionThis collection of personal papers previously belonging to Captain Lindsay (Tim) Gellatly consists of official documents (including passports and drivers licence), letters, manuscripts and receipts.HistoryCaptain Lindsay (Tim) Gellatly served with the Royal Australian Navy during World War II. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) in September 1942 and was Mentioned-in-Despatches in May 1943 for gallantry, fortitude and devotion to duty when HMS WELSHMAN was sunk in the Mediterranean.
After the war, he continued his naval career and became the executive officer of Flinders Naval Depot, and a member of the Naval Board of Inquiry.
