DescriptionA black and white photograph showing Wilfred William Boshier (far left in the back row) and crew mates enjoying a day in the outdoors.HistoryWilfred William Boshier was born on 29 April 1896 in Reading, Berkshire, England. He joined the Royal Navy on 29 April 1914 and was loaned to the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) in December 1920. Boshier transferred to the RAN in March 1922 and qualified as a naval diver in April 1923. Boshier was wounded in action in World War II in October 1944 and died on 19 June 1947. Leading Seaman Boshier served in the following RAN establishments and ships: CERBERUS, PLATYPUS, ALBATROSS, MELBOURNE, MALLOW, SYDNEY, CANBERRA, AUSTRALIA, BRISBANE, ADELAIDE, PERTH, and BUNGAREE. SignificanceThis letter of recommendation of service is part of a collection of material chronicling the service of Wilfred William Boshier. Leading Seaman Boshier served in the Royal Navy and later in the Royal Australian Navy where he served during World War II and became a naval diver.
