DescriptionHandwritten ink draft of a letter possibly to the Medway Yacht Club from Mark Foy at the time of his 1899 visit to England. The draft begins 'Gentlemen, referring to your letter of 18th (which by the way is no direct answer to my letter to you) - I only want a fair test'. The letter continues 'Race me 5 races on the Medway River for the Anglo Australian Shield best three out of five races ..'. A second draft letter handwritten in pencil on verso begins 'After receiving your reply to my offer to sail 2 races at each locality ..'. Letter ends 'After all the trouble I have gone to in the interest of sport'.
