Private Lippman was discharged on the 25th September 1946.HistoryBefore a member of the military could be discharged, they were required to be demobilized. This involved a certain number of procedures and check lists to be completed. Due to the vast numbers of returning service men and women, demobiliztion and final discharge after the war had to be staggered. Lenhgth of service, age and skills coiuld all effect at what stage someone woudl be discharged. In the case of Heinz Lippmann, he was enabled a living out peroid in which, although still technically part of the Australian Military Force (part of the 8th Employment Company) he would be able to wear plain clothes and look for private employement.
