originally comes from Maylasia. My mum is a Torres Strait
Islander and my father is German.
I have lived most of my life on Thursday Island where I attended
the Thursday Island Catholic Primary School, Stephen Island
primary School and completed Year 12 at Bamaga State High School.
After completing Year 12 I went back to Stephen Island to take up
carving which I have sold at the Thursday Island Cultural
Festival.
I wa a lways interested in Arts aI thought I would further my
Aducstion by applying to the Associate Diploma of Art (Aboriginal
and Torres Strait Islander) course offered at the Cairns College
of T.A.F.E, which is where I will be currently studying for the
next two years.
I base my art work on Torres Strait Island face masks, fish and
traditional designs of the Torres Strait Islands.
My spare time is spent carving dugongs, turtles, fish and
jewellery and if I am not doing that I am hunting for these
animals. I am so proud and glad to be a part, of the Torres
Strait Island Culture."
