Mavis Ganambarr is an exceptional fibre artist from Elcho Island. Since being taught the skills of fibre art at 19 by her grandmother Ganambarr has exhibited widely throughout Australia in both solo and group shows.

In 2010 Ganambarr was a part of the joint project ‘Yuta Badayala (New Light)’ between Yolngu women fibre artists working with Elcho Island Arts in North East Arnhem Land and Koskela a Sydney based Design Company.

In 2014 Ganambarr and fellow Elcho Island artist Rose Mamuniny were invited to create a collection of jewellery and textiles for Australian Indigenous Fashion Week which was held in Sydney from 11-13 April that year. Their designs were selected to feature in the opening runway which was led by AIFW ambassador and model Samantha Harris.
