Antonio Nicolo Gasparo Jacobsen

Antonio Nicolo Gasparo Jacobsen was a Danish-born who moved to New Jersey at the age of 23.Settling on the Hudson River, the trained artist began to paint pictures of the hundreds of ships in the New York Harbour and was soon commissioned by to paint portraits of ships by their owners, captains and crew members.

Jacobsen was an enthusiastic painter and it is estimated that he produced more than 6,000 ship portraits. With his experience grew his technical knowledge and he was recognized as having an excellent eye for accuracy and detail.
