BiographyRobert Wendel was a lithographic draftsmen and artist active during the latter half of the nineteenth century. He was a long-time collaborator of German-born lithographer and printer Charles Trödel (1835-1906), who moved to Melbourne, Australia in 1860. Wendel produced many of the posters in the so-called Trödel Collection that is currently held by the La Trobe Library, Melbourne as well as the chromolithographs of the 'New South Wales Album', published in 1878. He produced a number of magnificent colour plates, many from drawings by Baldwin Spencer, which illustrate the zoological and anthropological volumes of Spencer's Report on the Work of the Horn Scientific Expedition to Central Australia, 1896.
