BiographyProfessor Macvey Napier was born in Dunbartonshire in Scotland on 11 April 1776. He was a lawyer and professor of conveyancing at the University of Edinburgh. He also edited the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th editions of Encyclopaedia Britannica.
Napier died on 11 February 1847.
