BiographyJames Catnach, born 1792, set up as a printer at 2 Monmouth Place, Seven Dials, London after the death of his father John Catnach in 1813. He worked from this premises till his retirement in 1838. His main-stay was small histories, ballad poetry, broadsides, catch-pennies, and penny awfuls. He died not long after retirement in 1841.
