BiographyDr. Willem van Bemmelen, investigator in geomagnetism, Assistant Director of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute at Utrecht in 1892, transferred to the Royal Magnetical and Meteorological Observatory at Batavia, Java, in 1898 and served as Director of the Observatory from 1905 to 1922.
