BiographyRobert Dodd (1748 - 1816) was a British marine painter and engraver who lived in Wapping, London. He began his artistic career as a landscape painter until he dedicated himself to marine scenes. He is well known for his depictions of battle scenes of the French Revolutionary Wars and the American War of Independence, the wreck of the GUARDIAN, Nelson’s VICTORY, and the mutiny on the BOUNTY. He exhibited at the Society of Artists in London in 1780 and the Royal Academy between 1782 and 1809.
