BiographyPrêtre was a painter and draughtsman, mainly of natural history, who also specialised in colour printing. His work appeared in a large number of books and several species of animals were named after him.
Prêtre was also known for being the illustrator for Empress Josephine's zoo, and then for the Natural History Museum in Paris.
