BiographyIn 1907 the Queensland Government Intelligence and Tourist Bureau was established as a sub-department of the Chief Secretary's Office. After various name changes in 1945-1946 the board became known as the Queensland Government Tourist Bureau. The primary focus of the Tourist Bureau was the promotion of tourism within Australia and it was responsible for producing brochures, encouraging improved standards in accommodation and service and providing a subsidy scheme to promote local areas.
