BiographyRaphael Roussel was born in 1883, the son of Theodore Roussel, a French painter and etcher. Roussel worked as both a portrait painter and commercial artist before World War I and exhibited at several British galleries between 1908-1929. He established his reputation with the construction of dioramas, first displayed in the British Empire Exhibition in 1926 and subsequently used in museums throughout the world.
