Owen Rutter

1889 - 1944

BiographyOwen Rutter was born in England in 1889 and worked as an author, journalist and lecturer. He served in the British North Borneo Civil Service as a Magistrate and District Officer before entering the Wiltshire Regiment and serving in France and Macedonia during World War I.

Rutter travelled extensively and undertook a number of journalist and editorial positions with publications including The Writer, The Times and the The Times Literary Supplement. He was also a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and displayed a keen interest in naval warfare and maritime history, acting as a co-publisher for Golden Cockerel Press and writing anumber of books and articles on HMB ENDEAVOUR, BOUNTY, William Bligh and the First Fleet. He died in August 1944.
