BiographyElizabeth Hudspeth was born in Northumberland England on 9 September, 1820 and as a child migrated with her family to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania). Hudspeth sketched numerous landscapes of Tasmania and New South Wales in pencil or pen-and-ink. On returning to England in 1854 after the death of her mother and brother, she attempted to sell her drawings. The English market was not very receptive to her work featuring picturesque Australian scenes. She died from tuberculosis on 29 May 1858 in the Canary Islands.
