Wesley Arthur Stanley1893 - 1978

Wesley Arthur Stanley born in Campbelltown in 1893 son of Wilson and Blanche Stanley. In 1909 he began his career at Cockatoo Island Dockeyard as an apprentice turner and fitter. He completed his apprenticeship on 6 June 1914 and began working as a junior draughtsman by September of that year. In 1918 he married Clementine Alexander.

When the Australian government closed down its operations at Cockatoo Island in 1933, Stanley was retrenched. He was quickly reemployed by the company that took over the shipyard, Cockatoo Docks & Engineering Co and continued to work there until the 1950s.

Wesley Stanley died in 1978.
