DescriptionThis archive series numbered [001] - [625] consists of black and white photographic negatives taken by amateur ferry and speed boating historian Graeme Andrews relating to inshore and offshore speedboat racing and trials. The images depict the 1969 Botany Bay Race and the Cabarita Cup Race, as well as various New South Wales scenes at Silverwater, Glenbawn Dam, Scone, and Lake Macquarie.SignificanceThis collection illustrates the boom era of speedboating in the decades after World War II. The increasing affordability and widespread use of cars, engines and the advent of mass production made speedboating affordable and the sport became a popular pastime.
