DescriptionNorth Bondi Surf Life Saving Club commemorative badge that reads 'North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club - Ready Aye Ready' and depicts a surf life-saver beside the reel.HistoryThe origins of the North Bondi Club go back to the year 1890, when a number of local regular swimmers formed a club to assist in the rescue of less experienced swimmers who were beginning to come to North Bondi beach. Men gathered each Sunday on the north end of Bondi beach and activities include boxing, wrestling and fitness sports, it was known as the North Bondi Surf and Social Club. Officially, the North Bondi Surf Lifesaving Club was formed in 1906 and is one of the first clubs in Australia. In 1911 a wooden building was erected and became the first clubhouse – is erected. The club change its name from North Bondi Surf and Social Club to North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club and in 1926 formalised its official colours as red, chocolate and white.
