DescriptionThis Australian Olympic Team rowing suit was worn by Drew Ginn during the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. The sleeveless one-piece suit is made from Spandex and Polyester Dri-Fit fabric in green and gold team colours. It features the Australian coat of arms and Olympic logo on the left side of the chest, and Nike logo on the right side of the chest. There is green binding around the armholes, green feature pieces at the shoulders and green mesh inserts on the front of torso. Small silver details are featured on the shoulders and on the thighs. On the back at the centre of the neckline is a small Southern Cross on a solid green background. On the back of the torso, underneath each arm, is the text 'AUS' in green.HistoryIn 1996 Drew Ginn joined the 'Oarsome Foursome' crew replacing Andrew Cooper in the bow. The crew competed in the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games where the 'Oarsome Foursome' won their second successive Olympic gold medal in the Men's Coxless Four final. Drew Ginn was forced to miss the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games due to a back injury. He returned to elite competition by teaming up with fellow 'Oarsome Foursome' rower James Tomkins in the Coxless Pairs. The pair came fourth at the 2002 World Championships and won the 2003 World title in the same event. They went on to win the gold medal at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games in the Men's Coxless Pairs final in a time of 6:30:76.SignificanceThis rowing suit was worn by Olympic gold medallist Drew Ginn in the Semi Finals of the Mens Coxless Pairs event at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. It is one of three suits issued to Drew for use in competition.
