HistoryAdelaide Steamship Company was a major Australian shipping company operating from 1876 until 1972 when it sold the last of its ships although it continued other commercial activities. M V 'Manunda' and M V 'Manoora' were popular passenger ships on the Australian inter-state routes. Manunda served in Adelaide SS Co's fleet from 1929 to 1956. During World War II it was requisitioned as a hospital ship. It was broken up in 1957. Manoora served in the coastal trade from 1935 until 1961, with the exception of the years 1939-1949, when it was requisitioned by the RAN and used for wartime and post-war purposes.
