DescriptionThis blurry photograph captures BRITANNIA sailing in a weekly race on Sydney Harbour. Aboard is a large crew who face away from the photographer. Visible in the background is a small vessel and land.History18ft. skiff racing was an entertaining sport for spectators. Its origins are attributed to Mark Foy and a group of businessmen who founded the Sydney Flying Yacht Squadron, reportedly established on 19 October 1891. BRITANNIA and its skipper Georgie Robinson were prominent figures in 18ft. skiff racing between the two world wars.
