DescriptionA rough cut wooden handle intended to be smoothed into an adze handle with a graceful double curve which makes the tool easier to control. There are pencil markings for where cuts were intended to be made. An adze is used for removing heavy waste, levelling, shaping, or trimming the surfaces of timber. The adze is swung in a circular path, and the workman uses his chest or thigh as a stop to prevent the arm from swinging too far and causing an accident.
