DescriptionA Granny's Tooth Hand Router, also known as an Old Woman's Tooth Router, or a Depthing Router. The tool is used for routing out housing waste, cleaning the bottom of wide grooves below the surface of the wood, and for depthing a flat recess in a carved design. This router has been attached to a specifically cut rectangular wooden to assist with the cutting motion. The metal router has the letters A and B on either side of the tooth, which can be ajusted up or down, and is coated in a black enamel.HistoryBernard Lake, became an apprentice shipwright in 1940 with the Australasian United Steam Ship Company in Sydney. He later worked at Cockatoo Island and for the Maritime Services Board at Goat Island.
