HistoryOrginally the KILDORREY, this vessel was built as a patrol frigate for the British Navy.
In 1928 is was refitted and renamed DURIS Duris for trading in the Pacific islands trade. On 29 May 1937 DURIS was wrecked off Vulcan Island, Rabaul, during a volcanic eruption. It was suggested that the vessel dragged anchor and disappeared down the crater as the mountain split in half.
