DescriptionThe handwritten text at the top of this image appears to read 'Lever Bros'. The Lever Brothers were British Manufacturers who, among many others, owned the 'Lux' soap brand. Lever Brothers operated a soap factory in Balmain, Sydney from 1895- 1988.SignificanceThe Hall photographic collection provides an important pictorial record of Sydney from the 1890s to the 1930s. The collection mainly documents the lively sailing scene in Sydney during this period, however portraits and livestock photography are also included in this photographic collection. During his lifetime, William James Hall became known as one of the best livestock photographers and was in high demand during Sydney show season.
