DescriptionThis unusual green tomato print cotton swimsuit has halter neck straps with a sweetheart neckline, a scooped back and elasticised legs. Fully lined with cotton stockinette at the front, this 1950s design from Tempo has a shirred central panel and horizontal seams around the bust to lend support and create a flattering shape.HistoryFrom the late 1940s cotton swimsuits and sunsuits were often shaped and textured with shirring, smocking and contrasting panels. This created a curvaceous and ultra-feminine silhouette that emphasised the bust, waistline and hips.
