HistoryHMS PIONEER, four gun Intrepid-class Royal Navy steamship launched in 1856. It was assigned to the China Station where it saw active service during the Taiping Rebellion before being assigned to the Australia Station from 1862 to1863. It was decommissioned in 1864.
