BiographyPublishers who operated from 1866 - initially selling pictures and frames - into the 20th century producing all kinds of printed matter from postcards, greeting cards and silk cards to books, scrapbooks and puzzles. Tuck was joined by his three sons in 1871. The company was granted a Royal Warrant by Queen Victoria, and established printing houses in London, Paris and Toronto; they entered the American market in 1900 opening an office in New York. American artists designed many of the postcards, but the cards were printed in Europe (Germany, Saxony, England) and then returned to the US for sale. Their records and original stock were destroyed during the German bombing blitz of London in World War II. In 1962 Purnell & Sons acquired the shares to Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd.
