Ernest Clegg

British-American, 1876 - 1954
BiographyClegg was a Captain in the British Army in World War I and served on the Western Front as a company commander. After World War I he returned to his home in Manhattan and resumed his civilian occupation as a painter. He painted HMAS PERTH in 1939 when she visited New York for the World's Fair. Clegg also designed and painted maps of towns in England such as Kent and Derbyshire. Clegg eventually moved back to England and into a home for retired army officers in Bishopsteignton, South Devon, UK where he died.
