Bruce Nabegeyo was born in about 1949 at Makanarlarl-Mungung, near Mount Borradaile, north of Oenpelli and is a well-known western Arnhem Land narrative artist. He went to school in Oenpelli and has lived there most of his life. He was taught to paint by his father Bilinyara Nabegeyo, including how to grind his own ochres.
