BiographyRobert Bénard was a renowned French natural history and cartography engraver. He is credited on prints as either the engraver (sculp) or director of the printmaking workshop (direxit). Publishing works between 1751 and 1772, he also worked on the plates for Cook's travel journeys and wrote a monograph on silk for Description des arts.
