BiographyValentine Green was an English engraver, printer and publisher. Specialising in mezzotint printmaking, Green published and printed many works, including his own, and his business flourished throughout the 1760s, 1770s and 1780s. In 1773, he was appointed the mezzotint engraver to King George III. Though he was officially bankrupt in 1799, Green was employed as the Keeper of the British Institution for Promoting the Fine Arts in the United Kingdom from 1805 up to his death in 1813.
