After serving in New Guinea with the AIF for three years during WWII, Greenberg returned to Australia and after completing his studies worked for the Herald and Weekly
Times and drew political cartoons for the Guardian newspaper. He was also active in the creative arts scene in Melbourne, associating with artists, architects and theatre performers. Greenberg was a notable figure in the commercial artists industry and was said to be a regular at a The Art Directors’ Cafe and Pelligrini’s in Bourke Street which were known designers’ haunts.
From 1957 to 1970G Greenberg left Australia to work in advertising agencies in New York, London and Norway. He would become known for his "lively illustrations and innovative layouts". However, it is one of his earliest works that he would become most renowned for, the poster he created in 1948, 'Australia Land of Tomorrow'.
