DescriptionA copy of 'Sailing Through Australia', vol. 2, No. 5 October 17, 1925. The covers bears images of ADVANCE and MISSISSIPPI at sea. This was the newsletter of the Sydney Flying Squadron and Sydney Sailing Club produced weekly. It provided biographical stories and results together with a programme detailing the skiffs and their colours.SignificanceThis material is significant in documenting the activities of W H Golding a Sydney boat builder and designer who was active from the 1880s to the 1920s. It provides valuable information on local and interstate regattas of the same era as well as vessels that Golding sailed, designed and built. The collection gives a concise picture of recreational and competative sailing in the late ninteenth and early twentieth centuries and highlights the work of a pioneer of Sydney boat building.
