DescriptionThis pair of white leather Oxford shoes was made by the South Australian shoe manufacturer Eklipsan. The shoes feature a Louis heel, a rounded toe, and decorative punch-pattern edging on the toe cap and around the 'v' shaped slit to which laces are attached. The inner sole is inscribed with the text 'The Eklips 'All' awarded gold medal' and 'made in Adelaide'. Leather sports shoes worn during the Edwardian era often incorporated menswear-inspired detailing and feminine heels.HistoryWomen increasingly participated in sport and leisure activities throughout the early 20th century.
