It also features a red ink stamp which states "AURORA AUSTRALIS" disabled by engine room fire 21-7-98, 185 km off AAT coast, expedition terminated. After repairs 25-7-98, returned to Hobart".SignificanceThis collection is significant in representing a broad range of Antarctic philately interests (the study of stamps and postal history). It covers most of the countries who have bases in the white continent and are signatories to the Antarctic Treaty, including all of the Australian bases.
