DescriptionThis photograph shows four of BRITANNIA's crew members, including a woman, hanging over the side, during the Queen of the Waves race, an event held once a year to raise funds for charity. It was the one day a year that women sailed on the boats as crew.History18ft skiff racing was an entertaining sport for spectators. Its origins are attributed to Mark Foy and a group of businessmen who founded the Sydney Flying Yacht Squadron in October 1891.
