DescriptionThis is a bound copy of the 1880 publication of the Navigable Waters Protection Act of 1862. It contains a proclamation by the Governor of New South Wales, Augustus Loftus, stating that the schedule of the 1871 Navigation Act will come into operation on 1 September 1880. The proclamation is followed by the copy of the schedule in question, with a list of countries whose ships will obey the act.SignificanceThis copy of the Navigable Waters Protection Act of 1862 provides valuable insight into the shipping industry along the coast of NSW in the second half of the 19th century.
