DescriptionBook engraving titled 'Australie jeune femme' depicting an Australian aboriginal woman carrying a child on her right shoulder. Below the image the plate number '78', the artist 'L. Massard del.' and engraver 'Choubard sc.' Below the title is the text reference 'Voy. en Oceanie. Introduction, p.21' indicating that the plate refers to page 21 in the Introduction to 'Voyages en Océanie' in the multi-volume work 'Bibliothèque universelle des voyages, effectués par mer ou par terre dans les diverses parties du monde ...'(Universal Library of Travel by Sea or Land in the Different Parts of the World since the First Discoveries) by Albert Étienne de Montémont. Page 21 begins a description of indigenous Australians mentions explorers Cunningham and Sturt.
