DescriptionTimber trophy in the shape of a shield with 'C.K.Brown WHISKY V.S.B.C.', `Victorian 95.C.I.Disp...`...Mildura 1962', `Victorian 95 c.I. Open Learmonth 1963' and `Victorian 95 C.I.Disp. Learmonth 1963'. Presented to Colin Brown, driver of the speed boat WHISKY by the Victorian Speed Boat Club.HistoryWHISKY raced with the Victorian Speed Boat Club (VSBC) from 1959 onwards. The plywood clinker hull was designed and built by VSBC driver and builder Colin Winton. The owner Colin Brown and his partner Roy Sampson installed the marinised BMC car engine. Like many speedboat enthusiasts, they were attracted to the sport through their keen interest in engines. WHISKY features a clinker-planked hull constructed in mahogany marine plywood and the engine is a 15 nla 72740 with a fabricated tubular exhaust manifold, dry sump lubrication with no generator. It has a 45 DCOE Weber carburettor on Lynx MGB manifold, a Lucas distributor and a frabricated alloy engine mount at flywheel end cast.SignificanceWHISKY is an important example the history of speed pursuit in Australia.
