DescriptionA page from the Illustrated London News 14 May 1887 featuring four engravings under the main title 'The new Orient Line steam-ship ORMUZ on the voyage home from Australia'. The first engraving is subtitled 'The Orient line steam-ship ORMUZ'. The others are subtitled 'ORMUZ in the Suez Canal', 'Passing through the straits of Bab-el-Mandeb', 'Doing 14 knots an hour in a full gale'. The last engraving is signed 'I R Wills'.HistoryThe ORMUZ was a ship of the Orient Line and was a ship the company was incredibly proud of. Her facilities on board, for all classes, were of a high standard and her speed on the UK to Austalia route was seen to be excellent. She was built in 1886 and travelled the route as a passenger liner until 1911 when she as sold, renamed the DIVONA and was used in the Europet to South America passenger route.
